Welcome to Rijk Zwaan USA. We are based in Salinas, California. Rijk Zwaan USA is responsible for the introduction and sales of the Rijk Zwaan vegetable seed product line in the United States. Rijk Zwaan USA incorporated in 2000 and has grown from a staff of two to seventeen employees in 2011. We are key players in the North American spinach, lettuce and cauliflower markets. In 2006 we introduced new broccoli and lettuce varieties and are looking forward to being a major competitor in a wide array of vegetable crops in the United States. 

In April of 2007 we leased 3.5 hectares in the middle of the Salinas Valley to use as a research and demonstration farm. Jim Staples, Farm Manager with Anthony Leonardini, Asistant Farm Manager runs our research farm. Travis Fowler joined the team in March of 2008 to coordinate all the breeding trials on and off the farm with an emphasis on lettuce. In January 2008, Paul Klein came on board as the Production Specialist for North America. He is located in Washington State just north of Seattle.

In January 2011 we were pleased to have Gretchen Raymond join us as the Sales Manager NAFTA for the USA, Canada and Mexico. Her knowledge of the worldwide greenhouse market adds a new dimension to our Rijk Zwaan team. Gretchen will also take a leading role in developing our new range of melon products. It is rewarding to see Rijk Zwaan USA evolve into a full dimensional subsidiary. We continue to appreciate the support and encouragement we get from Wim Grootscholten and Linda Brand in De Lier and John Devries in Canada.
