New Introduction in Batavia Lettuces

Rijk Zwaan will introduce 81-69 RZ, a new Bl: 1-26 and Nasonovia resistant Red Leaf replacement for Ruby Sky RZ for commercial sale July 2008.

In addition to more Bremia resistance than Ruby Sky RZ, it is Slower Bolting with a more Savoy Leaf. 81-69 RZ has a slight Darker Red color but more ronounced than Ruby Sky RZ. 81-69 RZ is also strong against Tipburn.

81-69 RZ is a perfect compliment to the Rijk Zwaan 1-25 Nr Green Leaf Variety Starfighter RZ. Starfighter RZ is a vigorous open head Green Leaf Variety with strong textured savoyed leaves. Starfighter RZ is also Slow Bolting and strong against Internal Burn.
